Nepalis and 2010 Census

Namaste everyone,

The US Census Bureau will be conducting its 2010 census next spring - to get a complete and accurate count of all USA residents, both citizens and non-citizens alike. We are partnering with the US Census Bureau to
help increase participation and delivery of the 2010 Census message. The partnership involves collaborations and outreaches with local organizations to promote information sharing on completing and returning the census questionnaire which will be mailed out next March to every household in the US.

According to the 2000 census, there were only 11,715 Nepalis (born in Nepal) in the US. We believe there
are at least three times as many Nepalis in New York alone, and ten times as many in the entire country. Here is our opportunity to get counted, and have our voices heard.

We are inviting everyone interested in the well-being of the Nepali community to be part of the first Nepali Complete Count Committee. Please join us on Sunday, Nov 8th, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm for the meeting of the first Nepali Complete Count Committee.  The venue for the meeting is Adhikaar Office, 39-06 62nd Street, Office BL, Woodside, NY 11377.  Other meetings will follow in the coming weeks.

Come help us make sure Nepalis count!

Please let us know if you are attending - RSVP @ 718-937-1117 or nepaliuscensus@gmail.com. If you are interested but live outside New York area or cannot make it to the meeting on Nov 8th, please fill out the form by clicking the link below, and we will keep you posted.

Sincerely,
